Do People Always Know if
They are Depressed or Suicidal ?

 

Answer: No.

Depression has a multitude of possible symptoms and can be, mild to severe, with the duration from a few weeks to a chronic, lifetime illness. Because symptoms vary greatly from person to person -- Some people know they have it, Some suspect, & Some don't have a clue. One person can display a few mild symptoms while others have very acute and classic symptoms. A person can actually have Suicidal Thoughts every day without really feeling
depressed !!
Mild to Moderate Depressions are VERY often
attributed to "Personality," "Character,"
or "Personal Failure"
The person continues to struggle & search for something to cure all their problems, like religion, positive thinking books, motivational tapes Common depictions are:
"He's a loser with no ambition."
"He's just a lazy slob."
"She's just a flake."
"She's never on time, she's undependable."
Others can be known all their lives as grouchy, irritable, angry, mean, ill-tempered, abusive, violent - He's a bad person.
